Introduces geological concepts in the context of selected US national parks. Relates geology to the cultural aspects of these parks and present-day environmental concerns.

The course will also explore interactions between these spheres, including critical analysis of scientific theories and emphasize Earth’s connections with humans.

Live with a Mexican family in the beautiful in the modern city of Mérida in Yucatán, Mexico during Summer B. Develop conversational Spanish ability in Beginning, Intermediate, or Advanced Spanish class (3 credits) at the Autonomous University of Yucatán (UADY). Earn UF credits in Tropical Ecology (3) and Humans & the Environment of the Yucatán Peninsula (2), and gain an understanding of the structure and function of the ecosystems on the Yucatán Peninsula. All instruction is in English, except Spanish classes.
