Advisory Board

The Department of Geological Sciences Advisory Board is a group of Earth Science professionals from a variety of industry and academic employers. The group work together to advise and assist the Department in developing curricula to prepare students for work in their future careers. In addition, the Advisory Board acts as an ambassador for the Department to increase the awareness of the Department’s needs, successes and long-term goals, and move the Department toward a secure future.

Carolyn Luysterburg is currently a Team Lead for Deepwater New Basin Evaluation at Shell. Alice Hildick is the Head of Operations at Studio X, an open innovation studio powered by Shell. She leads the development and execution of strategies and products, helping enterprise organizations achieve their energy innovation, sustainability and emissions reduction goals through innovation and technology. Prior to joining Studio X, Alice began her career in 2006 at ExxonMobil, where she spent nearly a decade on energy and technology projects, including 3 years as a Global Reserves Advisor.

Amy Brown is the Deputy Executive Director of Water Resources at the Suwannee River Water Management District. In her current role, she is responsible for implementation and coordination of District programs and projects related to water resource monitoring, minimum flows and minimum water levels, groundwater modeling, environmental and water resource projects, and water supply planning. Joshua Hirten, PG is currently an Environmental Discipline Lead for CDM Smith working with Environmental Technical staff and Business Development Lead to identify market changes, develop strategies, and be an environmental advocate. Kristen Woods graduated with a M.S. degree in Igneous Petrology from The University of Georgia in 2010.  She has spent the last 13 years as a Geologist in the mining industry, working for the Rio Tinto Resolution Copper project in Arizona, as well as DuPont / Chemours Titanium Technologies in NE Florida and SE Georgia.  Kristen has a passion for ore mineralogy, long term mine planning, drilling, and project economic evaluations.  She has 6 children,
