Joshua Hirten

Joshua Hirten, PG is currently an Environmental Discipline Lead for CDM Smith working with Environmental Technical staff and Business Development Lead to identify market changes, develop strategies, and be an environmental advocate. Hirten has worked across federal, public, and private sectors facilities. As an environmental consultant he has acted as Program Manager for 32 petroleum impacted sites, Emergency Response Task Leader for a 33,726-gallon Jet Fuel A release, and Professional Geologist for various Superfund assessment efforts. He led global training and on-site technical support for a Project Management Software Program that covered Australia/New Zealand, Asia, North America, Africa, Europe, and South America. He is active with the Florida Association of Environmental Professionals holding several roles including President of the Central Florida Chapter, Board Member, and Conference Chair.  He continues to visit National Parks, inspired by the numerous Geology field trips. Hirten graduated from SUNY Buffalo in 1993 with a BA in Geology and the University of Florida with a MS in Geology with a minor in Environmental Engineering in 1996. His Master’s Thesis was titled “Geochemical and hydraulic dynamics of the Suwannee River and Upper Floridan aquifer system near Branford, Florida”.
