Douglas Valleau

Mr. Valleau works with Industry, and Universities to identify and nurture breakthrough innovation in geoscience and engineering.  Focus areas are petroleum exploration, field development, EOR, and full reservoir condition three-phase core-flood imaging and testing at the macro, micro, nano, and atomic scales.

Prior to Strategia, Mr. Valleau was Chief Geologist and Director of Unconventional Technology for Hess Corporation. He has held various management and geoscience and engineering positions with ConocoPhillips, Burlington Resources, Maxus, BHP, Monsanto, and Gulf Oil

His professional affiliations include the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, Society of Exploration Geophysicics, Society of Professional Engineers, and the Houston Geologic Society.  Mr. Valleau is a certified petroleum geologist registered in the State of Texas. He has published papers on geomechanical drilling risks, development of multipay geopressured fields, use of geopressure in prediction of hydrocarbon migration, and using microseismic to illuminate reservoir depletion.  He co-developed an analytical protocol for shale-gas analysis for which a U.S. Patent was awarded.

Mr. Valleau currently serves as the AAPG representative on the URTeC Management Committee and is a member of the URTeC Executive Advisory Board.  He serves as Chairman of the Editorial Advisory Board for World Oil Magazine and serves on the University of Florida Department of Geology Academic Advisory Board.
