Dr. Ellen Martin is paleoceanographer/paleoclimatologist who uses radiogenic isotope geochemistry to study past climate conditions.  Her paleoceanographic work uses Nd and Pb isotopes preserved in deep-sea sediments to understand the relationship between ocean circulation, chemical weathering, and climate, with implications for past continental conditions, ocean heat transport, and carbon storage.  She also has an ongoing research project in Greenland designed to understand the impact of glacial retreat on chemical weathering and therefore carbon sequestration and delivery of nutrients and radiogenic isotopes to the ocean.
