Speleothem-based climate proxy records Research

Speleothems are widely recognized as excellent climate archives due to their ability to preserve long-term climate signals, provide precise and reliable U-series ages, and offer a variety of climate proxies.

To address the gap in paleo-records and improve our understanding of the forcing mechanisms behind the climatic patterns observed during the last interglacial in the western Mediterranean, I analyzed a detailed isotopic record (δ13C and δ18O) of a precisely dated stalagmite from Campanet Cave, Mallorca.

I used a multi-proxy approach — combining growth history, isotopic record, and mineral changes, and reported a continuous insular record for the period between 121 and 67 ka.
