Celebrating 75 years of CLAS Geological Sciences!

March 3, 2023 @ 5:00 pm - March 4, 2023 @ 9:00 pm

We are excited to celebrate the department’s 75 years of achievement in teaching and research alongside alumni and friends who have been part of our amazing journey. In 1948 the UF’s Department of Geology was formally authorized to grant BA, BS, MS, and MST degrees. Since then, we have become a vibrant department with a robust PhD program, 25 faculty, and a strong interdisciplinary teaching and research record. We also changed our name to the Department of Geological Sciences in 1999 to emphasize our broader disciplinary scope. Many of our remarkable alumni and friends have provided essential support to our program over the years, contributing substantially to our success. We hope you will be able to join us for our celebration this March to reconnect with old friends, make new friends, and share in our bright future.
